The storage node performsstorage node-side cleanup (p. 371) and storage node-side validation (p. 372) for each archive storedin the managed vault. An administrator can specify additional operations that the storage node willperform (deduplication (p. 365), encryption).Any managed vault is self-contained, that is, contains all metadata the storage node needs tomanage the vault. In case the storage node is lost or its database is corrupted, the new storage noderetrieves the metadata and re-creates the database. When the vault is attached to another storagenode, the same procedure takes place.Management server (Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Management Server)A central server that drives data protection within the enterprise network. Acronis Backup &Recovery 10 Management Server provides the administrator with: a single entry point to the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 infrastructure an easy way to protect data on numerous machines (p. 369) using backup policies (p. 362) andgrouping enterprise-wide monitoring functionality the ability to create centralized vaults (p. 364) for storing enterprise backup archives (p. 361) the ability to manage storage nodes (p. 371).If there are multiple management servers on the network, they operate independently, managedifferent machines and use different centralized vaults for storing archives.Media builderA dedicated tool for creating bootable media (p. 363).PPersonal vaultA local or networked vault (p. 373) created using direct management (p. 365). Once a personal vaultis created, a shortcut to it appears under the Personal vaults item of the Navigation pane. Multiplemachines can use the same physical location; for example, a network share; as a personal vault.Physical machineOn Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Management Server, a physical machine is the same as aregistered machine (p. 371). A virtual machine is considered physical if an Acronis Backup & Recovery10 agent is installed on the machine and the machine is registered on the management server.PlanSee Backup plan (p. 362).PolicySee Backup policy (p. 362).
