Each of the nodes can manage up to 20local or remote vaults. Multiple Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 components can be installed on a machine with a singleinstallation procedure. In an Active Directory domain, you can deploy the components using the Group Policy.Setting up the storage nodeBefore using the storage node, make sure that all users that will back up to the node's vaults haveWindows accounts on the node. If the node is included in an Active Directory domain, all the domain users will be able to back upto the node; and all the domain administrators will become node administrators. In a workgroup, create a local user account for each user that will back up to the node. Membersof the Administrators group become node administrators. You can add more accounts later asrequired.1. Run the console, connect to the management server.2. Create a managed vault as described in Operations with centralized vaults (p. 128). Enablededuplication when creating a managed vault.Setting up groups and policiesThe detailed explanation of when and why you need to organize groups of machines can be found inthe Grouping the registered machines (p. 59) section. Here are some scenarios supported by theaforementioned Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 implementation.2.13.2.1 Protecting the serversYou will most likely create individual backup plans on each of the servers depending on their roles. But it is necessary to perform a full backup of the entire server at least once. You might want to backup the server during a maintenance window or backup window, after installing or updating software, before relocation, etc. In our example, there is no need to back up entire servers on a regular basis. You can manually delete old backups since they are not numerous.1. Create a policy that backs up [All Volumes] to the managed vault on the storage node. ChooseBack up later, manual start and Full backup type.2. Create a static group named, say, S_1. Add all the servers to this group. (A storage node can beadded in case the managed vault is not on the local node's drives. Otherwise the archive storagewill be backed up to itself).3. Apply the policy to the S_1 group. Make sure that the policy has been successfully deployed toeach of the servers. The policy deployment state has to change from Deploying to Deployed andits status has to be OK. To see the resulting backup plans on each of the servers:a. navigate to the All machines group or the S_1 groupb. select the serverc. select the Backup plans and tasks tab on the Information pane. When you need and have the opportunity to back up any of the servers, navigate to the backup planas described above, select the plan and run it.
