Winding/Installing the BobbinGETTING READYBasic operations B-15BmTurn on the machine.nPress the “Start/Stop” button once to start winding thebobbin.When the foot controller is plugged in, press down onthe foot controller.1 “Start/Stop” buttonoWhen the bobbin winding becomes slow, press the“Start/Stop” button once to stop the machine.When the foot controller is plugged in, remove yourfoot from the foot controller.pUse scissors to cut the end of the thread wound aroundthe bobbin.qSlide the bobbin winder shaft to the left, and thenremove the bobbin from the shaft.rSlide the sewing speed controller back to desiredsewing speed position.sRemove the spool for the bobbin thread from the spoolpin.Installing the bobbinInstall the bobbin wound with thread.You can begin sewing immediately without pulling up thebobbin thread by simply inserting the bobbin in the bobbincase and guiding the thread through the slit in the needleplate cover.Note• When winding transparent nylon thread on thebobbin, stop bobbin winding when the bobbin is1/2 to 2/3 full.If the bobbin is fully wound with transparentnylon thread, the pressure may create fracturesto the plastic bobbin. This will lead to irregularstitches or possible breakage to bobbin.CAUTION• When the bobbin winding becomes slow, stopthe machine, otherwise the machine may bedamaged.1 Memo• If the bobbin winder shaft is set to the right side,the needle will not move. (Sewing is impossible.)Memo• When the machine is started or the handwheel isturned after winding the bobbin, the machine willmake a clicking sound; this is not a malfunction.Memo• For details on sewing after pulling up the bobbinthread, for example, when making gathers or withfree motion quilting, refer to “Pulling up thebobbin thread” on page B-22.CAUTION• Use a bobbin that has been correctly woundwith thread, otherwise the needle may breakor the thread tension will be incorrect.• Before inserting or changing the bobbin, besure to turn off the machine, otherwise injuriesmay occur if the “Start/Stop” button or anyother button is pressed and the machine startsoperating.
