Upper ThreadingB-22Pulling up the bobbin threadWhen making gathers or before free motion quilting, first pullup the bobbin thread as described below.aRefer to “Threading the upper thread” (page B-18) tothread the machine with the upper thread and threadthe needle.bFollow steps d to f “Installing the bobbin” (page B-15) for installing the bobbin to insert the bobbin intothe bobbin case.c Pass the bobbin thread through the slot.Do not cut the thread with the cutter.dWhile lightly holding the upper thread with your lefthand, press (Needle position button) twice tolower and then raise the needle.→ The bobbin thread is looped around the upper threadand can be pulled up.eCarefully pull the upper thread upward to pull out theend of the bobbin thread.f Pull up the bobbin thread, pass it under the presserfoot and pull it about 10 cm (4 inches) toward the backof the machine, making it even with the upper thread.gReattach the bobbin cover.Insert the tab in the lower-left corner of the bobbincover, and then lightly press down on the right side.Using the twin needleWith the twin needle, you can sew two parallel lines of thesame stitch with two different threads. Both upper threadsshould have the same thickness and quality. Use of any other needlemay bend the needle or damage the machine.• Never use bent needles. Bent needles caneasily break, possibly resulting in injuries.• The needle threader cannot be used with thetwin needle. If the needle threader is used withthe twin needle, the machine may bedamaged.12
