Line Acquisition Modes94 Basler sprint Color Cameras3.5 Operating Recommendations3.5.1 Camera Operating RecommendationsTo achieve the best results, certain operating requirements should be met. Exposure start should be triggered by an ExSync signal (see Chapter 4 on page 99). Use of the programmable exposure mode is recommended to ensure uniform exposure. The edge controlled or level controlled exposure modes can be used, but only if the conveyorspeed is 100% stable. If the conveyor speed is not stable, unacceptable variations in exposuretime will result.3.5.2 System Design RecommendationsWhen you are using the RGB or the Raw line acquisition mode, the camera’s line rate and theconveyor speed must be attuned to ensure that the object is completely covered and thatexposures do not overlap. When you are using the Enhanced Raw line acquisition mode, for agiven point on the object to be captured correctly, its image must fall precisely on line A in the sensorand then precisely on line B in the sensor.Position EncoderYou should use a position encoder to monitor the movement of the system’s conveyor. You shouldalso use the encoder output to trigger line acquisition for attuning the camera’s line rate and theconveyor speed.Conveyor TravelThe conveyor must travel in a straight line. If the conveyor motion is not straight, each line in thesensor will scan a different area of the object.Sensor PerpendicularityThe sensor lines in the camera must be perpendicular to the conveyor’s line of travel. If the sensorlines are not perpendicular to the line of travel, a slightly different area of the object will fall on eachline.
