9W006 and 9W007 19M ODULE C ONNECTIVITYAssigning IP AddressesWe define the network devices as follows:• SmartSwitch Remote Access ModuleSite Central: the network’s central site. A Cabletron product that has similar softwarearchitecture as the CSX1204. We will use SFVRA-CFG to create the module’s configurationfiles, then download the files to the module.• Modem UserSite Rem_Modem: a PC using a modem to access site Central. We will use SFVRA-CFG toconfigure basic connectivity information that will be used by site Central.• CSX100Site Rem_100: a Cabletron product that does not have similar software architecture as themodule and the CSX1204. We will use SFVRA-CFG to configure basic connectivityinformation, but to configure the device itself, you will need to use its own configurationutility.• CSX1204Site Rem_1204: a Cabletron product that has similar software architecture as the module. Wewill use SFVRA-CFG to create the CSX1204’s configuration files, then download the files to thesystem.Assuming that the SmartSwitch Remote Access Module is already installed, the steps we willfollow to complete this example configuration are as follows:1. This is a new installation for both the module and the CSX1204. Therefore, we will access themodule and the CSX1204 and assign a new IP address for each.2. Using SFVRA-CFG we will:a. Start-up SFVRA-CFG.b. Configure a site template.c. Add the sites.d. Add a connection group including the four sites.e. Add IP information for the sites.f. Generate updated configuration files.g. Download the updated configuration files.3. Configure any needed information on site Rem_ Modem and site Rem_100 so that they cancommunicate with site Central. The sections below provide detailed instructions for the above steps.A SSIGNING IP A DDRESSESWe want to gain access to the SmartSwitch Remote Access Module and the CSX1204 to assign theirIP addresses. The steps are the same for both devices.1. Connect a PC with a terminal application to the module or CSX1204 using the supplied nullmodem cable. Connect one end of the cable to the device’s RS232 console port and the otherend to the PC’s communication port.
