Move the shift lever tothe right from D (Drive) toM (Manual Mode).2. Tap the left control to downshift,and the right control to upshift.3. To return to sport mode, hold theright upshift control briefly,or hold the shift lever forwardbriefly, or return the shift lever toD (Drive).With the shift lever in D (Drive), thetap shift controls will activate atemporary tap manual shift mode,allowing the transmission to bemanually shifted. Automatic shiftsreturn after no manual shifts havebeen done for seven to 10 second.The temporary tap mode can alsobe deactivated by holding the rightupshift control briefly.The tachometer display indicateswhich gear the vehicle is in. Thenumber indicates the requestedgear range when moving the shiftlever forward or rearward.CTS-V vehicles use tracer lightsaround the outside of thetachometer as a performanceupshift light. These tracers flash toindicate when to shift to the nexthigher gear to avoid the enginespeed limit. See Tachometer onpage 5‑13 for more information.While using the DSC feature, thevehicle will have firmer, quickershifting. You can use this for sportdriving or when climbing ordescending hills, to stay in gearlonger, or to downshift for morepower or engine braking.The transmission will only allowyou to shift into gears appropriatefor the vehicle speed and enginerevolutions per minute (RPM). Thetransmission will not automaticallyshift to the next lower gear if theengine rpm is too high, nor to thenext higher gear when the maximumengine rpm is reached.If shifting is prevented for anyreason, the currently selected gearwill flash multiple times, indicatingthat the transmission has not shiftedgears.
