Black plate (45,1)Cadillac SRX Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-Europe-8087690) - 2015 -CRC - 7/2/14Vehicle Care 10-45Tyre Pressure MonitorSystem{ CautionModifications made to the TyrePressure Monitor System (TPMS)by anyone other than anauthorised service facility mayvoid authorisation to use thesystem. The Tyre Pressure Monitor System(TPMS) uses radio and sensortechnology to check tyre pressurelevels. The TPMS sensors monitorthe air pressure in your vehicle'styres and transmit tyre pressurereadings to a receiver located in thevehicle. Each tyre, including the spare (ifprovided), should be checkedmonthly when cold and inflated tothe inflation pressure recommendedby the vehicle manufacturer on thevehicle placard or tyre inflationpressure label. (If your vehicle hastyres of a different size than the sizeindicated on the vehicle placard ortyre inflation pressure label, youshould determine the proper tyreinflation pressure for those tyres.)As an added safety feature, yourvehicle has been equipped with atyre pressure monitoring system(TPMS) that illuminates a low tyrepressure telltale when one or moreof your tyres is significantlyunder-inflated.Accordingly, when the low tyrepressure telltale illuminates, youshould stop and check your tyres assoon as possible, and inflate themto the proper pressure. Driving on asignificantly under-inflated tyrecauses the tyre to overheat and canlead to tyre failure. Under-inflationalso reduces fuel efficiency and tyretread life, and may affect thevehicle's handling and stoppingability. Please note that the TPMS is not asubstitute for proper tyremaintenance, and it is the driver'sresponsibility to maintain correcttyre pressure, even if under-inflationhas not reached the level to triggerillumination of the TPMS low tyrepressure telltale.Your vehicle has also beenequipped with a TPMS malfunctionindicator to indicate when thesystem is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator iscombined with the low tyre pressuretelltale. When the system detects amalfunction, the telltale will flash forapproximately one minute and thenremain continuously illuminated. This sequence will continue uponsubsequent vehicle start-ups aslong as the malfunction exists. When the malfunction indicator isilluminated, the system may not beable to detect or signal low tyrepressure as intended. TPMSmalfunctions may occur for a varietyof reasons, including the installationof replacement or alternate tyres orwheels on the vehicle that preventthe TPMS from functioning properly.
