Chapter 2 Setting Up Your MultiPASS L60 2-3Setting Up YourMultiPASS L60Choosing a Location for Your MultiPASS L60Before unpacking your MultiPASS L60, follow these guidelines tochoose an appropriate location for the unit.C Please review the information provided in “Safety Instructions” onpages 1-15 to 1-17, to make sure you are installing your MultiPASS L60for safe use.❏ Put the MultiPASS L60 in a cool, dry, clean, well ventilated place:• Make sure the area is free from dust.• Make sure the location is not affected by extreme temperaturefluctuations, and remains between 10° and 32.5°C.• Make sure the area’s relative humidity is always between 20%and 80%.❏ Keep the MultiPASS L60 away from direct sunlight.❏ If possible, place the MultiPASS L60 near an existing telephoneoutlet, to allow for an easy connection of the telephone line to theunit.❏ Place the MultiPASS L60 near an electrical wall outlet that provides200 to 240-volt AC (50 to 60 Hz) power.❏ Place the MultiPASS L60 near the PC you will be connecting it to.Make sure you can reach it easily, as you will be using theMultiPASS L60 as a printer, fax machine, copier, scanner, andtelephone.❏ Do not plug the MultiPASS L60 into the same circuit as an appliancesuch as an air conditioner, electric typewriter, television, or copier.Such devices generate electrical noise that can interfere with yourunit’s ability to send or receive faxes.❏ Set the MultiPASS L60 on a flat, stable, vibration-free surface that isstrong enough to support its weight (about 8.6 kg).
