28ENGLISHBasic Operation Basic OperationENGLISHPlaying and recording other sourcesConnecting the portable playerYour portable audio player can be connected to the ADV-S101’sportable jack to play tracks on the portable audio player.PORTABLEAUDIO LINEOUT1Connect the ADV-S101 and portable audio playerusing a separately sold mini-stereo audio cable.Playing a portable audio (stereo mini plug)IN Front IN2 Play the portable audio player.• The signals of the portable audio are output through theS-101.For instructions on playing the portable audio player, see theportable audio player’s operating instructions.About analog recording onto an externalaudio component (AUX3)NOTE:Cautions during analog recording of DVDs or digital inputsources:• Do not switch the S-101’s input mode, surround mode orsurround parameters during recording. Doing so willinterrupt the sound being recorded.We recommend setting the surround mode to “STEREO”.• When using headphones, recording is automaticallyperformed in the Dolby Headphone mode.2 When the DVD is selectedDolby Digital, DTS and PCM digital signals are automaticallyconverted to 2-channel stereo signals before being output(except when in the Dolby Headphone mode) and can berecorded in analog. (For what happens in the Dolby Headphonemode, see below.)2 When other functions (analog) are selected(aside from “AUX3”)The analog audio signal selected from among the functions otherthan DVD is output unchanged, regardless of the S-101’s inputmode or surround mode.Press the FUNCTION button on the main unit orAUX button on the remote control unit to select“IN Front IN”.Viewing the slideshow(Only for iPods equipped with the Photo function)For instructions on connections, see page 26.12 Press the RETURN button to switch from thebrowse mode to the remote mode.iPod’s photographs can be displayed on the TV monitor.Disconnecting the iPod3 Watching the iPod’s display, press the CURSOR• or ª button to select “Photos”.4 Press the ENTER button to play.• The iPod’s photographs are displayed on the TV monitor.• The battery is not charged while a slideshow is playing. Be surethe battery is sufficiently charged before starting the slideshow.We recommend either pressing the ON/STANDBYswitch to set the S-101’s power to the standby mode,or pressing the FUNCTION button on the main unitor the DVD, TUNER or AUX button on the remotecontrol unit and setting the input function tosomething other than iPod.
