79Appendix A: Breaker Control Bus (BCB) installationPRC-E Series Instruction Manual MN014003EN August 2015 www.eaton.comFigure 29 Deadfront Cover RemovalThe following steps describe installation of a left-side(odd-numbered circuit breakers) BCB into the 1a or2a panelboard. It is essential that the positioning andorientation in the chassis be precisely as described herein.Improper location of the BCB may cause problems whentrying to connect the circuit breaker pigtails to the BCB andimproper orientation will cause configuration difficulties.Step 3 BCB upper mount.Figure 30 shows the proper installation point for the top-most rail mounting screw. Notice the small arrow pointingto the hole. This hole is located just below the buss supportbracket and left of the number-one circuit breaker position. It may prove helpful to mark the hole with a piece of tapeor a marking pen.Figure 30 The BCB Upper Mounting HoleTake care to obey the BCB orientation shown in the abovefigure; use one of the supplied screws to hold the BCBin place loosely. The general rule is that the control boxextends into the wire gutter of the panelboard.Step 4 BCB lower mount. The BCB is fastened to the “C” channel by two screws(provided). Let the BCB hang freely down the channel tolocate the bottom-mounting hole.Figure 31 Locating the BCB Lower Mounting Holeotee:N There may not be a hole for the bottom mountingscrew. If the hole is present then it should be in thevicinity of the small arrow shown in Figure 31. Ifthe hole is not present, it may be necessary to usethe BCB as a guide to locate the hole. This can beaccomplished by loosely screwing the BCB into thetop hole and then using the BCB mounting to locatethe hole. It may be easier to apply masking tape tothe chassis to make your mark more visible. Oncethe location is determined, remove the BCB from thepanelboard and drill the hole using a #29 drill bit andinstall as scriptedStep 5 Finishing up.To complete the mechanical fastening of the BCB to thePow-R-Line panelboard, make sure all circuit breaker pigtailsare clear from any pinching or jamming. Tighten the topand bottom mounting screws. Finally, verify that any branchcircuit wiring is clear of the newly installed component.
