Eachconfiguration parameter is easily set through a user-friendly“point and click” interface. From the interface, the user willhave the ability to change a number of switch parameters.See the “Web Page Programming” section of thisdocument for more information.SpecificationsElectrical●● 24 V / 100 mA AC power is provided to each switchthrough the CAT-6 network cableOperating environment●● Designed for indoor environment●● Operating temperature: –10 °C to +40 ºC (14 °F to 104 ºF)●● Relative humidity: 10% to 90% noncondensing●● Atmosphere: non-explosive and non-corrosive●● Vibration: stationary application—NEMA Level ACertifications●● FCC and UL approvedFigure 39 Digital Switch Labeling ExampleDigital Switch network installationInstalling RJ-45 connector to 23 AWG CAT6 cableIn order to complete installation of Pow-R-Command DigitalSwitches (PRCDS) the installer must first pull 23-gaugeCAT6 network cable from the Pow-R-Command controllerto each PRCDS forming a daisy chain network architecture.Once the cable is pulled into each switch box the installeris ready to install RJ-45 connectors to the cable followingT-568B standard for Ethernet twisted pair cables. Cableinstallation kits that include tools and connectors areavailable at electronics stores. It is recommended that toolsspecifically designed for making Ethernet cables be usedto help ensure good connections while saving the installertime. The following items will be required for this step:1. RJ-45 connectors: These connectors can be purchasedat most electronic stores and computer stores andusually come in bulk packages. It’s always a good ideato get more than you expect you will need.2. Crimping tool: These tools are often purchased atelectronic stores. To create a network cable you willneed a crimper that is capable of crimping a RJ-45 cable(not just a RJ-11 cable, which looks similar to a RJ-45).3. CAT6 stripper or knife: If you plan on making severalnetwork cables you should also consider getting a wirestripper capable of stripping CAT6. If you do not planon creating many network cables a knife will suffice. For simplicity and to prevent potential issues werecommend a wire stripper.4. Professional electricians scissors designed for use inelectrical, telephone and datacomm service applicationsare recommended. These types of scissors areergonomically designed with large ring to provide morepower while reducing fatigue and wrist strain. Theirbottom blades feature serrated teeth for gripping cableand wire.Figure 40 Typical Cable Installation Kit
