CHAPTER 5 - PXG600E THEORY OF OPERATIONEATON PXG600E User Manual • IM02603003E Rev 5, 11-May-2012 • Firmware Version 5.03:383516Connecting a PXG600E to the Ethernet LANNOTICE: “Upstream” and “Downstream” in this discussion refersto the way devices are connected to the Ethernet LAN and doesNOT have anything to do with devices that are connected“downstream” to the PXG600E via the serial Modbus or INCOMnetworks.Two 10/100 Base T, RJ-45 connectors are provided on each PXG600E. One islabeled “Upstream” (Figure 4, A) and the other is labeled “Downstream”(Figure 4, B). These ports have Auto Negotiation capability and are capableof Dual Speed Switching. In addition, they also support Auto-MIDX.Figure 4 shows a typical Ethernet LAN configuration using four PXG-Egateways and one IQ 250 meter connected to an Ethernet switch. TheEthernet ports on PXG-E number 3 and 4 are connected together using adaisy-chain approach.
