CHAPTER 5: SETTINGS TRANSDUCER INPUTS/OUTPUTSG30 GENERATOR PROTECTION SYSTEM – INSTRUCTION MANUAL 5-31755.10.2 RTD inputsSETTINGS TRANSDUCER I/O RTD INPUTS RTD INPUT F1(W8)Hardware and software is provided to receive signals from external resistance temperature detectors and convert thesesignals into a digital format for use as required. These channels are intended to be connected to any of the RTD types incommon use. Specific hardware details are contained in chapter 3.RTD input channels are arranged in a manner similar to CT and VT channels. The user configures individual channels withthe settings shown here. The channels are arranged in sub-modules of two channels, numbered from 1 through 8 from top to bottom. On power-up,the relay automatically generates configuration settings for every channel, based on the order code, in the same generalmanner that is used for CTs and VTs. Each channel is assigned a slot letter followed by the row number, 1 through 8inclusive, which is used as the channel number. The relay generates an actual value for each available input channel.Settings are automatically generated for every channel available in the specific relay as shown above for the first channelof a type 5C transducer module installed in the first available slot. The function of the channel can be either “Enabled” or “Disabled.” If “Disabled,” there is not an actual value created for thechannel. An alphanumeric ID is assigned to the channel; this ID is included in the channel actual values. It is also used toreference the channel as the input parameter to features designed to measure this type of parameter. Selecting the type ofRTD connected to the channel configures the channel.Actions based on RTD overtemperature, such as trips or alarms, are done in conjunction with the FlexElements feature. InFlexElements, the operate level is scaled to a base of 100°C. For example, a trip level of 150°C is achieved by setting theoperate level at 1.5 pu. FlexElement operands are available to FlexLogic for further interlocking or to operate an outputcontact directly.See the following table for reference temperature values for each RTD type.
