Chapter 5. CPU OperationGFK-2816F August 2015 755.1.2 CPU Sweep ModesNormal Sweep ModeIn Normal Sweep mode, each sweep can consume a variable amount of time. The Logicwindow is executed in its entirety each sweep. The Communications window can be set toexecute in a Limited or Run-to-Completion mode. Normal Sweep is the most common sweepmode used for control system applications. The following figure illustrates three successive CPU sweeps in Normal Sweep mode. Notethat the total sweep times may vary due to sweep-to-sweep variations in the Logic,Communications and Background windows.HKINPUTOUTPUTCCBPCBGLOGICSWEEP n+1HKINPUTOUTPUTCCBPCBGSWEEP n SWEEP n+2HKINPUTOUTPUTCCBPCLOGIC LOGICBGAbbreviations:HK = HousekeepingCC = Controller Communications WindowBPC = Backplane Communications WindowBG = Background WindowTypical Sweeps in Normal Sweep Mode
