Measurement Considerations A-1February 2005Appendix AMeasurement ConsiderationsThere are a variety of environmental and installation factors thatcan affect measurements. These factors should be discussed witha GE Infrastructure Sensing applications engineer or field salesperson by the time you receive the PM880. However, if youdecide to add additional measurement sites, this section containssome basic guidelines for selecting a measurement site andconstructing a sample system. This section includes thefollowing:• Choosing a Measurement Site - see below• Moisture/Temperature Probe Considerations - page A-2• Sample System Guidelines - page A-5Choosing a Measurement SiteYou should have discussed environmental and installation factorswith a GE Infrastructure Sensing applications engineer or fieldsales person by the time you receive the PM880. The equipmentshould be suited to the application and installation site.• Choose an installation site for the probes and sample systemsthat is as close to the process line as possible. Avoid longlengths of connecting tubing. If long distances areunavoidable, a fast sampling by-pass loop is recommended.Do not install any other components, such as filters, ahead ofthe probes or sample system unless instructed to do so by GEInfrastructure Sensing.• Observe all normal safety precautions. Use the probes withintheir maximum pressure and temperature ratings.Test Equipment Depot - 800.517.8431 - 99 Washington Street Melrose, MA 02176FAX 781.665.0780 - TestEquipmentDepot.com
