TIS and TAS cannot be displayedat the same time. If the aircraft has a TAS unit installed, the GDU 620 will beconfigured for TAS. If no TAS unit is installed and a GTX Mode-S transponderis installed then the GDU 620 will be configured for TIS. A pilot can tell whichdata is being displayed by the label in the top left corner (TAS/TCAS: OPERfor TAS/TCAS data and TIS: OPER for TIS data). TIS data comes from a GTXtransponder. Coverage is limited to specific areas as shown in the Airmen’sInformation Manual (AIM). TAS data comes from a TAS unit such as a GarminGTS 800 or 820, Skywatch 497, KTA 810, or other unit. Coverage follows theaircraft. In the Navigation Map page setup you can select the maximum range atwhich traffic symbols are shown. Once outside of the selected range, traffic willbe decluttered. The Traffic soft key will still be available. The Garmin GDL 88Hcan provide TIS-B and ADS-B information. The Garmin GTS ADS-B productscan also provide ADS-B information.4.6.1 TAS/TCAS 1 Traffic (Optional)TAS refers to an active Traffic Advisory System that may be optionallydisplayed on the PFD and/or MFD. The TAS is installed separately from the G600system. There are variations in performance and control among the variousG600-compatible TAS systems. Refer to the appropriate TAS documentation fordetailed information on the operation of the TAS system. This section describesthe display and control functions available on the G600 system.NOTE: TIS and TAS are mutually exclusive.NOTE: Aircraft without an operating transponder are invisible to bothTraffic Advisory Systems (TAS) and TIS. Aircraft without altitude reportingcapability are shown without altitude separation data or climb descentindication.NOTE: Traffic is also displayed in the SVT feature on the PFD.
