The air datacomputer calculates the temperature based on temperature probe and pitot/static inputs. The units (°C or °F) and temperature reference are selected on theAUX – SYSTEM SETUP page. The temperature reference can be selected to oneof the following choices:• Static Air Temperature (SAT) – This is the calculated temperature of thestationary (static) outside air. Conceptually, this is the temperature thatwould be read on a thermometer floating stationary at the current location.• Total Air Temperature (TAT) – This is the calculated temperature of theoutside air as it moves past the aircraft, including the rise in temperaturedue to air compression and friction at the current airspeed.• Difference from International Standard Atmosphere (ISA) – This is thedifference between SAT and standard (ISA) temperature at the currentaltitude. This provides an indication of how much warmer/colder thetemperature is from a “standard” atmosphere.Figure 2-34 HSI Outside Air Temperature2.8.3 Wind VectorsWhen selected, wind vector information is displayed in a window on thePFD to the left of the HSI. The Wind Vector style is configured in the Aux ModeSystem Setup page. When the airspeed is less than 20 knots, the Wind Vectorwindow will indicate “No Wind Data.”Figure 2-35 Wind Vector with No Wind DataFour styles are available as shown below.Style 1 Style 2 Style 3 Style 4Figure 2-36 Wind Vector Style
