To remove the SAS/SATA controller from the system board, complete the followingsteps:1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”on page 65.2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords andall external cables.3. Remove the server from the rack; then, remove the cover (see “Removing thecover” on page 68).4. Disconnect the cable from the SAS/SATA controller.5. Grasp the edges of the SAS/SATA controller.6. Pinch the top of each of the two plastic alignment pins while you gently lift thecontroller, until the alignment pins release the controller.7. Gently pull the controller toward the front of the server slightly; then, lift thecontroller off the system board.8. If you are instructed to return the SAS/SATA controller, follow all packaginginstructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied toyou.Installing the SAS/SATA controller (hot-swap models)SAS/SATAcontroller cardTabNotchTo replace the SAS/SATA controller on the system board, complete the followingsteps:1. Grasp the edges of the SAS/SATA controller.2. Gently insert the controller card into the SAS/SATA controller card connectoron the system board (see the illustration on page 6 for the location of theconnector) while you align the holes in the card with the two plastic alignmentpins on the system board.3. Press the controller card firmly onto the alignment pins until the card clicks intoplace. Make sure that the top of each alignment pin has expanded to hold thecontroller card securely in place.4. Push the controller card toward the rear of the server, fully into the connector,until the side tabs on the connector rest in the side notches of the controllercard.5. Connect the cable from the hard disk drive backplane to the SAS/SATAcontroller.6.
