System-event/error log messagesThe system-event/error log contains POST messages and messages generated bya Remote Supervisor Adapter II SlimLine, if one is installed. The system-even/errorlog can contain messages of three types:Information Information messages do not require action; they record significantsystem-level events, such as when the server is started.Warning Warning messages do not require immediate action; they indicatepossible problems, such as when the recommended maximumambient temperature is exceeded.Error Error messages might require action; they indicate system errors,such as when a fan is not detected.Each message contains date and time information, and it indicates the source ofthe message (POST/BIOS or the service processor).In the following example, the system-event/error log message indicates that theserver was turned on at the recorded time.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Date/Time: 2002/05/07 15:52:03DMI Type:Source: SERVPROCMessage Code: System Complex powered UpMessage Code:Message Data:Message Data:- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -The following table describes the possible system-event/error log messages andsuggested actions to correct the detected problems.Note: These actions have the following meanings:Reseat the system board(Trained service technician only) Complete the following steps:1. Disconnect all cables from the system board.2. Remove all removable components from the system board, includingthe microprocessor; then, remove the system board from the chassis(see “Removing the system board” on page 103).3. Check the system board for damage or loose parts.4. Make sure that the system board area in the chassis is free of objects;then, replace the system board in the chassis (see “Installing thesystem board” on page 104).5. Reinstall all removable components on the system board and reconnectall cables to the system board.Reseat the power supplyComplete the following steps:1. Remove the power supply from the server (see “Removing the powersupply” on page 85).2. Check the power supply for damage and for crimped or damagedcables.3.
