Chapter 2. Models and Physical SpecificationsThis chapter provides the following detailed information for zSeries 800s.v Model and frame descriptionsv Plan view and specificationsv Weight distribution data and service clearances informationv Shipping specificationsAll zSeries 800 models are constructed using building blocks called ″cages″ thatmount in a ″frame″. A processor (CPC) cage is always placed in the top position ofthe frame. Input/Output adapters are installed in a second cage, added to thebottom of the frame.Because of the large number of cables that can be connected to a zSeries 800system, installation on a raised floor is strongly recommended. If you are planning an installation on a raised floor in Canada, the installationmust be in accordance with Section 12-020 of the CEC. Certain limitations mayapply to non-raised floor applications. In any country, refer to your national electriccode if you have questions about routing data processing cables in exposed areas.zSeries 800HardwareManagementConsoleFigure 2-1.
