Ifthe decomposition vessel is vented using the handle, C 7010.8, this must be done ina fume cupboard. Make sure the decomposition vessel is completely vented to at-mospheric pressure, otherwise it cannot be opened.gOpen the decomposition vessel and check the crucible for signs of incomplete com-bustion. If combustion was incomplete, discard the result and repeat the test.hClean and inspect the decomposition vessel as described in Section 7.6. 0DQXDOUHFRUGLQJRIWKH&YDOXHThe C value that was determined the last time a decomposition vessel was cali-brated is always stored in the calorimeter. If several calibration runs were used tocalculate the C value (e.g. when calibrating to DIN), the calculated C value for thedecomposition vessel must be entered manually before making a calorific value test.The C value is dependent on the decomposition vessel used. If the coding is used,up to eight decomposition vessels can be automatically recognised by the calo-rimeter. Then the instrument selects the appropriate C value for the current configu-ration.Starting from PHQX, follow the steps below to enter the C value manually:cPress the button once. PHQX appears in the LCD-display.dPress the function key I to go to the sub-menu PDQXDO. The LCD-display shows thesub-menus KHDWFDS (C value) and PHDVXUHeUse function key I to select the sub-menu KHDWFDS The LCD-display shows theenquiry ERPEQRfUse the alpha-numeric keys to enter the number of the decomposition vessel youhave used for the calibration. Later, this number will be printed on every measure-ment protocol. Confirm by pressing the ↵ button, and the enquiry for the C valueappears in the LCD-display.gIn the second line of the LCD-display, the last C value entered is given. Erase thisentry by pressing the GHO button repeatedly. Use the alpha-numeric keys to enter theC value for the decomposition vessel previously specified.hConfirm by pressing the ↵ button.
