17O VEN C OOKINGOven LightsThe oven lights automatically come on when anoven door is opened. When the door is closed,press the appropriate Oven Light pad to turn theoven light on and off. A beep will sound every timethe Oven Light pad is pressed.Oven BottomProtect oven bottom against spillovers, especially acidic orsugary spills, as they may discolor the porcelain enamel. Usethe correct pan size to avoid spillovers and boilovers. Do notplace utensils or aluminum foil directly on the ovenbottom.Oven FanA convection fan is used to circulate hot air in the oven whenthe convection feature is selected. It automatically turns onafter the Convect Bake or Convect Roast pads are pressedand will turn off when convection is canceled.Note: The convection fan will automatically stop when theoven door is opened.Oven VentWhen the oven is in use the area near the vent may becomehot enough to cause burns. Never block the vent opening.The oven vent is located below the backguard ventshield on your range.When high moisture foods are cooked in the upper oven,steam may be visible coming from the oven vent. This isnormal.Oven Racks• Do not attempt to change the rack position when the ovenis hot.• Do not use the oven for storing food or cookware.All racks are designed with a lock-stop edge.Upper oven• Is equipped with one rack.• When pulling the upper oven rack out toremove or check food, grasp the top edgeof the rack.Lower oven• Is equipped with one RollerGlide TM rack, one half-rack andone regular flat rack.Do not placeplastics near thevent opening asheat from thevent could distortor melt theplastic.OVEN VENTLOCATIONCAUTIONAdjusting the Oven TemperatureOven temperatures are carefully tested for accuracy at thefactory. It is normal to notice some baking or browningdifferences between a new oven and an old one. As ovensget older, the oven temperature can shift.You may adjust the oven temperature if you think the oven isnot baking or browning correctly. To decide how much tochange the temperature, set the temperature 25 degreeshigher or lower than your recipe recommends, then bake.The results of the first bake should give you an idea of howmuch to adjust the temperature.To adjust the oven temperature:1. Press the Bake pad for the appropriate oven.2. Enter 550° by pressing the appropriate number pads.3. Press and hold the Bake pad for several seconds or until00° appears in the display.If the oven temperature was previously adjusted, thechange will be displayed. For example, if the oven tem-perature was reduced by 15° the display will show “-15°”.4. Press the Autoset pad to adjust the temperature.Each time the Autoset pad is pressed, the temperaturechanges by 5°. The oven temperature can be increased ordecreased by 5° to 35°.5. The time of day will automatically reappear in the display.You do not need to readjust the oven temperature if there is apower failure or interruption.
