DUAL TONESQUELCH SYSTEM(DTSS)DTSSprovidesamorerefinedmethodthanCTCSStoselectivelycommunicatewithspecific stations.Atotalof10003-digitDTMF(DualToneMulti-Frequency)codesareavailabletobeusedasaddressesforstationswithwhich you wanttocommunicate. Thesecodescan bechangedeasilyandregularlyasrequired.Duetothequantityofdifferentcodes,largenetworkscan besetupthatuseDTSSforselectivecallingandreceiving.Byincludinggroupcodesinthenetworkplan,sub-groupswithinthenetworkcan becontactedwithout disturbingothersmonitoringthesamefrequency.lfyourneedsaresimpler,DTSSalsoservesausefulpurposewhenyouonlywantdirectcommunicationwith afewclose friends onyourfavoritefrequency.Agoodexampleofthisapplicationis atHamventions whenaparticularfrequencycanbevirtuallyunusable duetoovercrowding.Ifyourgroup switchesONDTSS,yoursquelchonlyopenswhenacallisreceivedencodedwiththesame codethatisstoredinyour transceiver.Ifnosignalisreceivedformorethan2secondsafterDTSShasopenedthesquelch, thesquelchthen closes.Anytime you wanttomonitorallactivity onthe channel,you simply switchOFF DTSS.ACTIVATINGDTSSToswitchONDTSS,press[DTSS].¢"DTSS"appearswhenDTSSisON.¢Eachpressof[DTSS]togglestheDTSSfunctionONandOFF.Pressing[PTT]automaticallysendsyourDTSScode.Pressing[DTSS]while[PTT]ishelddown, resendsyourcodewiththeexceptionofEuropeanversions usingtheTonefunction.Note:>When[DTSS]ispressedwithPageON,PageisautomaticallySwitched OFF, andDTSSisswitchedON.> BothDTSSstatusandaDTSS codecan be storedinamemorychannelor the Callchannel.Further,whenrecalling eitheramemorychannelor the CallchannelwithDTSSstatusONwhileusingtheVFOwithPageswitched ON,PageisgivenpriorityandtheDTSSstatusswitches OFF.» Themicrophoneisinhibited whiletheDTSS codeistransmitted.>ifDTSS and ToneAlert are ON, thereisnoSpeakeroutputexceptthealarm tone evenifa signalisreceivedwiththecorrectDTSScode.75
