949Paging, ExternalDescriptionWith External Paging, a user can broadcast announcements over paging equipmentconnected to external Paging zones. When a user pages one of these externalzones, the system broadcasts the announcement over the speakers. Like InternalPaging, External Paging allows a user to locate another employee or make anannouncement without calling each extension individually. The UNIVERGE SV9100 system allows up to eight External Paging zones, or acommon zone output provided by the CPU (Speaker 9). All other speakers (1~8)require a port on aPGD(2)-U10 ADP, with a maximum of two external paging circuits per module. Youmust have four PGD(2)-U10 ADPs to get the eight external zones. In addition, eachexternal zone has an associated relay contact. When a user pages to a zone, thecorresponding contact activates (closes). This provides for Paging amplifier control.Combined PagingUse Combined Paging when you want to simultaneously Page into an internal andcorresponding external zone. For example, you can Page your company warehouseand outside loading dock at the same time. Combined Paging is available for zones1~8 and All Call. Refer to Paging, Internal for more on setting up Combined Paging. In addition, you can program a Function Key as a Combined Paging key. Using theExternal Page Function Key, when an All Call External Page Function Key isprogrammed, it includes both the external zones and the assigned internal zone(s).If the internal page zone is busy or there are no extensions in a page group, theannouncement is made on the external zones only.ConditionsThe UNIVERGE SV9100 provides a common zone output provided by thechassis. For more than one external page zone, External Paging requiresPGD(2)-U10 ADPs and customer-provided paging equipment.Talkback paging requires the use of a PGD(2)-U10 ADP. TheUNIVERGE SV9100 common zone output provided by the chassisdoes not allow talkback.A common zone output is provided by the chassis and is consideredZone 9 when programming.A Class of Service option is available in system programming toprevent display telephones from showing incoming paginginformation. This allows the system to save processor time andspeed up system operation.DID and DIL trunks do not ring external page speakers. Onlytrunks defined as normal in Program 22-02-01 ring external pagespeakers.Paging keys can be assigned on Programmable Function Keys and Direct Station Selection(DSS) Consoles to simplify External Paging operation.P
