It is designed andmanufactured not to exceed the limitsfor exposure to radio frequency (RF)recommended by internationalguidelines (ICNIRP). These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines andestablish permitted levels of RF energyfor the general population. The guidelineswere developed by independent scientificorganizations through periodic andthorough evaluation of scientific studies.The guidelines include a substantialsafety margin designed to assure thesafety of all persons, regardless of ageand health.The exposure standard for mobile devicesemploys a unit of measurement known asthe Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. TheSAR limit stated in the internationalguidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg)*.Tests for SAR are conducted usingstandard operating positions with thedevice transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all testedfrequency bands. Although the SAR isdetermined at the highest certifiedpower level, the actual SAR of the devicewhile operating can be well below themaximum value. This is because thedevice is designed to operate at multiplepower levels so as to use only the powerrequired to reach the network. In general,the closer you are to a base station, thelower the power output of the device.The highest SAR value for this devicewhen tested for use at the ear is0.64 W/kg.SAR values may vary depending onnational reporting and testingrequirements and the network band. The guidelinesincorporate a substantial margin ofsafety to give additional protection forthe public and to account for anyvariations in measurements.
