60 Equipment installation and configurationConnecting the fiber-optic link to the local systemEach required fiber of the fiber-optic cable, at each end of the link, must beterminated with an FC/PC optical connector. This connector plugs into theFC/PC optical connector on the I/O panel. For a single link, install connectors on only two fibers at each end ofthe link: one for the transmit side and one for the receive side. For aredundant link, four fibers must have connectors installed at each end.To connect the link to the network optical I/O panel at the local systemsite, follow the steps in Procedure 5 “Connecting the fiber-optic link to thelocal system” (page 60).Procedure 5Connecting the fiber-optic link to the local systemStep Action1 Identify the link FC/PC optical connector marked Tx 0 and Rx0 fora single link, or marked Tx 0, Rx 0 , Tx1, and Rx 1 for a redundantlink.2 Identify the transmit and receive connectors on the optical I/Opanel (bracket) installed in an empty network I/O panel connectorslot at the local site.3 Plug the link FC/PC optical connector marked Tx0 into the I/Opanel FC/PC optical connector marked Tx0 .4 Plug the link FC/PC optical connector marked Rx0 into the I/Opanel FC/PC optical connector marked Rx0 .5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the Tx1 and Rx1 if using a redundantlink.--End--Floor-standing column Fiber Remote IPE installationTo complete the installation of floor-standing Fiber Remote IPE equipment:• Install the floor-standing column.• Install the cards in the IPE module.Nortel Communication Server 1000Fiber Remote IPE FundamentalsNN43021-554 04.01 4 June 2010Copyright © 2007-2010 Nortel Networks.
