Chapter 1 Starting a CCM client session 27Contivity Configuration Manager 2.2 User GuideStarting the Web clientYou can start the CCM Web client on a Microsoft Windows or a Solaris systemthat has one of the following Web browsers installed:• Netscape 4.7 or later• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or laterTo start the Web client:1 Open a Web browser window.2 Enter the URL of the server machine on which the CCM administratorinstalled the CCM server software.For example, if the administrator installed the CCM server software on aserver machine named sampleserv, and if your site uses the default integratedWeb server, enter the following URL:http://sampleserv/index.htmlThe browser opens the Contivity Configuration Manager startup page. (If thestartup page does not appear, this probably indicates that your site uses athird-party Web server. In this case, get the URL for the CCM server from thesite administrator.)3 Click Log In.The browser loads the client software, a process that might take severalseconds depending on network traffic. After the client software is loaded, theCCM Login dialog box opens. See Figure 2 on page 28.Note: The Web client is provided as a convenience for you to use whileon the road or away from the office. For performance reasons, NortelNetworks recommends that whenever possible, you use the standaloneclient. See “Starting the standalone client” on page 24.
