Federal Communications CommissionRequirements for End UsersThis device has been granted a registration number by theFederal Communications Commission, under Part 68 rules andregulations for direct connection to the telephone lines. In orderto comply with these FCC rules, the following instructions mustbe carefully read and applicable portions followed completely.1. This equipment complies with Part 68 of FCC rules. On thebottom of the equipment is a label that contains, amongother information, the FCC registration number and ringerequivalence number (REN) for this equipment. If requested,this information must be provided to the telephone com-pany.2. The following USOC jacks may be used with this equipment:RJ11C.3. The REN is used to determine the quantity of devices which may beconnected to the telephone line. Excessive REN’s on the telephoneline may result in the devices not ringing in response to an emer-gency call. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the REN’s shouldnot exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices thatmay be connected to the line, as determined by the total REN’s,contact the telephone company to determine the maximum REN foryour calling area.4. If the equipment causes harm to the telephone network, thetelephone company will notify you in advance. But if advance noticeisn’t practical, the telephone company will notify the customer assoon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right tofile a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.5. The telephone company may make changes in its facilities,equipment, operations, or procedures that could affect theoperation of the equipment. If this happens, the telephonecompany will provide advance notice in order for you tomake the necessary modifications to maintain uninterruptedservice.6.
