8Front panelE ASSEM buttonThis button is pressed to proceed with assembleediting.It has a self-illuminating lamp which comes ONwhen the button is pressed and goes OFF when itis pressed again.F INSERT buttonsThe input signals to be edited when insert editing isto be conducted are selected by pressing one ofthese five buttons.Each of these buttons has a self-illuminating lampwhich comes ON when the button is pressed andgoes OFF when it is pressed again.G IN (A IN), SET and OUT (A OUT) buttonsWhen the SET button is pressed while the IN (A IN)or OUT (A OUT) button is held down, the IN (A IN)or OUT (A OUT) point is registered.The A IN and A OUT buttons are used during audiosplit editing to register audio IN and OUT points thatdiffer from the corresponding video points.When an IN (A IN) or OUT (A OUT) point has beenregistered, the lamp of the IN (A IN) or OUT (AOUT) button which has registered that point lights.When these buttons are pressed after points havebeen registered, the IN (A IN) or OUT (A OUT)point value appears on the counter display. Whenthe IN (A IN) or OUT (A OUT) button is pressedtogether with the RESET button, the registration ofthe IN (A IN) or OUT (A OUT) point is cleared.H TRIM buttonsThese buttons are used to make fine adjustmentsto the IN (A IN) or OUT (A OUT) point.By pressing the + or – button while the IN (A IN)button or OUT (A OUT) button is held down, theregistered edit point can be adjusted in 1-frameincrements. When the + button is pressed, the pointis moved ahead by one frame; conversely, whenthe – button is pressed, it is moved back by oneframe.Parts and their functionsI PREROLL buttonThis button is used to locate where a transmissionor manual editing starts on the tape.When it is pressed, the tape travels to the prerollpoint and stops.The preroll time can be set using setup menu No.000 (P-ROLL TIME).When the button is pressed while the IN (A IN) orOUT (A OUT) button is held down, the tape is cuedup to the registered point concerned.If this button is pressed when no IN point has beenentered, the point where the button was pressedwill automatically be entered as the IN point.(However, this is only the case if ENA has beenselected as the setup menu No. 313 (AUTOENTRY) setting.J PREVIEW/REVIEW buttonPREVIEW:When the button is pressed after an edit pointhas been registered, the tape travels and theediting can be previewed without actuallyperforming the editing.If the button is pressed when no IN point hasbeen registered, the point where it was pressedis registered as the IN point, and preview isexecuted using this IN point.REVIEW:When the button is pressed after a section hasbeen edited, the section that was just edited isplayed back and can be viewed on the recorder’smonitor.K AUTO EDIT buttonWhen this button is pressed after the edit pointshave been registered, automatic editing is initiated.If this button is pressed when no IN point has beenentered, automatic editing is initiated with the pointwhere the button was pressed serving as the INpoint.L METER (FULL/FINE) selector buttonThis button is used to select the scale display forthe audio level meter.
