Subscriber’s Manual273.4 Remote AccessYou can call the VPS while outside andlog in to your mailbox in order to listen toyour messages. There are 2 ways to login to your mailbox remotely:a) Automatic Log-in:When logging in to your mailboxremotely from a preprogrammedoutside telephone, you do not need toenter any special commands or yourmailbox number. The VPS canrecognize the telephone number youare calling from and thereforedetermine you are the caller (see 5.16Assigning Your Telephone Numbersfor Remote Automatic Log-in and TollSaver). This feature is not availablewith certain PBXs and may bedisabled by the System Administratoror System Manager for your mailbox.b) Manual Log-in:You need to enter the Voice MailService Command [#6] followed by[ ] and your mailbox number. ManualLog-in is necessary when logging into your mailbox when Automatic Log-in is not available with your PBX,when your mailbox is not programmedfor Automatic Log-in, or when you arecalling from a telephone number notprogrammed for Automatic Log-in.Remote Automatic Log-in1. Call the VPS from thepreprogrammed outside telephonenumber.• Ask your System Administratoror System Manager whattelephone number you shoulddial in order to access the VPSremotely.2.• You can skip this step if yourmailbox has no password.3. to play back messages.4.
