As asubscriber (the owner of a VPS mailbox),you can:a) Send a message to one or morepeople inside or outside your office.b) Transfer messages to othersubscribers and add your owncomments.c) Access your mailbox and listen toyour messages, even when out of theoffice.d) Have the VPS call, beep, or e-mailyou when someone leaves you amessage.e) Be notified by the message waitinglamp on your extension when newmessages have been recorded inyour mailbox.f) Screen your calls.g) Create a set of options and functionsexclusive to your mailbox (PersonalCustom Service) that can be selectedby your callers.h) And more…Before You BeginIn order to use the VPS as a subscriber,you need to know the followinginformation. The VPS System Managercan help you if you do not know thisinformation.a) The extension number of the VPS thatyou should dial in order to access theVPS.b) Your mailbox number and extensionnumber (In many cases these are thesame number, but it is possible theyare not).c) Your mailbox password (if set).d) The System Manager's telephonenumber. The System Manager is theperson you should refer to when youhave any problems with the VPS.Once you know this information, you areready to use the VPS.Using the VPSThere are two ways to use the VPS; youcan be either a subscriber, or a caller.A subscriber is a VPS user who has his orher own mailbox. Subscribers can playback their own messages, leavemessages for other subscribers, record amessage that is then sent to multipleparties (including outside parties), recordgreeting messages, etc. In order to usethe VPS as a subscriber, you must first"log in" to your mailbox. This usuallyinvolves dialing your mailbox number andentering your password. Once you havelogged in, you can use "SubscriberServices"; Subscriber Services are all thefeatures and functions you can access orperform as a subscriber.A caller can generally be thought of as anoutside party. Callers can leavemessages for VPS subscribers or use theVPS to be connected to specificextensions, but they do not log in to theVPS before using these features, and thenumber of features they can use islimited.
