104VQT0T60Automatic white balanceWhite balance adjustment recognizes thecolour of light and adjusts so the whitecolour will become a purer white. The unitdetermines the hue of light that comesthrough the lens and white balancesensor, thereby judging the recordingcondition, and selects the closest huesetting.This is called automatic white balanceadjustment.However, since the unit only stores whitecolour information under several lightsources, automatic white balanceadjustment does not function normallyunder other light sources.The illustration above shows the rangeover which the auto white balancefunctions.1) The effective range of automaticwhite balance adjustment on this unit2) Blue sky3) TV screen4) Cloudy sky (rain)5) Sunlight6) White fluorescent lamp7) 2 hours after sunrise or before sunset8) 1 hour after sunrise or before sunset9) Halogen light bulb10) Incandescent light bulb11) Sunrise or sunset12) CandlelightOutside of the effective range ofautomatic white balance adjustment, theimage will become reddish or bluish.Even within the effective range ofautomatic white balance adjustment, theautomatic white balance adjustment maynot function properly if there is more thanone light source. For light outside thefunctional auto white balance adjustmentrange, use the manual white balanceadjustment mode.White balanceThe images recorded by the unit maybecome bluish or reddish under theinfluence of certain light sources. Toavoid such phenomena, adjust the whitebalance.White balance adjustment determinesthe white colour under different lightsources.
