Forexample, if this option is not selected, and SEL key 2is lit with fader layer 1-16 active, and fader layer17-24 is then selected, SEL key 2 will still be lit (thatis, channel 18).Meter Follows SEL key When this option ischecked, the meter layer automatically changes whenthe appropriate SEL key is pressed (see “Meters andfaders” on page 77). The modes are as follows:Automation fader OFF When this option isactive (checked), in automation mode, when theautomated mix is being read (played back), the fadersdo not move.Cursor follows EQ Band Key When theoption is enabled and modules are being edited, andany of the EQ band keys (HI, HI MID, LOW MID orLOW) is pressed, the box cursor surrounding theactive on-screen controls will move to highlight theactive band.FLASH Info. This on-screen button allows you tosee how many times the flash memory used for stor-ing library entries, etc. has been used (written to).Moving the cursor to this on-screen button and press-ing ENTER brings up a pop-up panel showing thenumber of times that the flash memory locationshave been used. Pressing ENTER again allows you toview the automation memory area usage. Dismissthis pop-up by pressing ENTER once more.If any flash memory location has been written to toomany times in the life of the unit, a popup messagewill automatically appear to alert you of this fact.You should then contact your TASCAM dealer forservice.Version Info. For service, etc. it is useful to knowthe software version numbers of the different compo-nents. Moving the cursor to this on-screen button andpressing ENTER brings up a pop-up panel with thesoftware version numbers of the different compo-nents (including the internal effector units). PressENTER to dismiss this panel.Battery Check This is a “read-only” display. Itshows the current voltage and the status of theDM-24’s internal battery.If the battery voltage falls below a certain level, or isreported as being above a certain level, this displayblinks, and the screen shows Can’t Save System Data,together with the out-of-range voltage.Consult your TASCAM distributor if you see thismessage.SOLOThe solo modes on the DM-24 can be set up in anumber of different ways using this screen:MODE SELECT Either Mix Solo or Exclusive Solocan be selected here. The Mix Solo mode allows anumber of channels (that is, all whose MUTE keysare lit in solo mode) to have their outputs addedtogether to the solo mix. The Exclusive Solo mode onlyallows one channel (the one whose MUTE key waspressed last) to be soloed at one time.SOLO LINK This option allows the fader and mutegroups to be used with the solo function. This isexplained more fully in the solo part of the sectiondescribing monitoring (see “SOLO LINK” onpage 75). Briefly, if one of the group options (MUTEGROUP or FADER GROUP) is enabled, selecting a groupmaster module solos or unsolos the whole of thegroup.
