8 – Dynamics processors—DYNAMICS (master channels)TASCAM DM-24 Reference Manual 65DYNAMICS (master channels)The screen accessed by the DYNAMICS key when amaster channel (an aux send, a buss or the stereomaster) is selected is slightly different from thescreen displayed when a channel 1–16 is selected:The screen above shows two linked aux sends (1 and2), but the same principle applies to buss masters aswell as the stereo master.Note that the following features are different fromthe channel 1–16 dynamics screens:No expander or gate available for these mas-ter screens. Any on-screen controls associated withthese processors are therefore unavailable. Thisincludes the soft keys—only the compressor libraryis available from these screens.Insert point The insert point is fixed to pre-fader.Linking The way in which the links are labeled isdifferent for master modules. Instead of the channelsbeing referred to as left and right, they are referred toas 1and 2 (“left” and “right” do not have any realmeaning in these cases).Assigning processors to master channelsThe assignment of stereo compressors to up to threemaster channels is done using the I/O display ASSIGNSECT. sub-screenUse the fourth soft key to bring up the master assign-ment section.Move the cursor to the second column (MASTERCOMP INSERT MATRIX), and use the dial to assign thepossible master channels (confirm with ENTER).NOTEThe stereo master counts as two channels, as shown inthe sample screen here.
