See “Surround operations” on page 107 forfull details of how to make assignments in surroundmode.To use the global screen:1 With the SHIFT indicator off, press theASSIGN key.2 Continue to press the ASSIGN key, or presssoft key 3 to display the BUSS screen.3 Use the Ó and Á keys or dial to move thecursor along the row. The § and ¶ keysmove between the blocks, and the SEL indi-cator of the currently-highlighted channellights (if the fader layer containing the chan-nel is selected).Alternatively, use the SEL keys of the chan-nels to move the cursor and highlight thechannels on the screen. Channel 1 is high-lighted here.4 Use POD 4 to move the cursor at the right ofthe screen to select the buss groups (1-2, 3-4,5-6 and 7-8), the stereo output (ST), direct out(DIR) or AUX 1-2 (see below).5 Press ENTER to assign/de-assign the high-lighted channel to and from the selectedgroup. The appropriate CH ASSIGN key indi-cators light and go out as the selections aremade in this way.Alternatively, if the SEL key of the selectedchannel is lit (that is, the fader layer of theselected channel is active), use the dedicatedASSIGN keys to change the assignments.NOTEDirect output is only possible from channels 1 through16.Master settings The on-screen buttons ALL CHON (soft key 1) and ALL CH OFF (soft key 2) are used toassign or de-assign all channels from the assignmenthighlighted using POD 4.AUX 1-2 The AUX 1-2 setting at the bottom of thePOD 4 list does not have a corresponding hardwarekey or indicator. It is used to switch a link betweenthe stereo output and aux 1-2, or aux 1-2 may beassigned to the stereo outputs. Obviously, only one ofthese assignments may be made at one time.The first of these assignments (stereo to aux 1-2) isonly possible when the AUX 1-2 POD 4 button is high-lighted, and when the cursor is on the ST module(bottom right of screen).The second such assignment (aux 1-2 to stereo) ispossible only when the AUX 1-2 POD button is nothighlighted, and the cursor highlights the AUX mod-ule (to the left of the ST module—lower right).In either case, press the ENTER key.
