TROUBLESHOOTINGINDEXCONTENTSINDEXCONTENTS 6363The side switch does notwork.Be sure you press the side switch when the pen tip is within 6 mm (0.25inch) of the tablet’s active area – do this without pressing down on the pentip.From the Wacom Tablet control panel, verify that the side switch is set to thefunction you are expecting to occur for the application and tool that you areusing. Verify also that the S IDE SWITCH EXPERT MODE option is deselected.(This option is accessed by clicking on the control panel O PTIONS... button.)Make sure the tablet status LED changes from blue to green when youpress the side switch. If it does not, you may have defective hardware (seetesting your tools).The screen cursor jumpsback.Do not place an Intuos3 tool on the tablet when it is not in use, or when youare using another pointing device. Leaving your tool on the tablet mayinterfere with screen cursor positioning when using other input devices.Cannot move the cursorwhere you want to on thescreen, or the line you aredrawing does not line upwith the location of thepointer in paintapplications.Open the Wacom Tablet control panel and go to the M APPING tab. Verify thatPEN mode is selected and that the S CREEN AREA is set to FULL for theselected tool and application. If this does not help, click on the D EFAULTbutton to reestablish tablet to screen mapping. If you are still havingdifficulty, remove the tablet preferences (see next tip).You suspect the tabletpreferences may becorrupted, or want to makecertain that all settings areat their factory defaults.Delete the tablet preferences as follows:Windows: Do a Search or Find for the TABLET.DAT file and delete it.The file should be in your Windows\System or Windows\System32 folder.Then restart your computer. When the tablet driver loads, it will create anew preferences file with the factory default settings.Macintosh OS X: For a single user, delete the tablet preferences by firstchoosing your H OME folder from the GO menu. Then open your homeL IBRARY folder. Within your home L IBRARY folder, open the P REFERENCESfolder and delete the COM.WACOM.TABLETPREFERENCES file. Log out, thenlog back in. When the tablet driver loads it will create a new preferences filewith the factory defaults.For multiple users, delete all tablet preferences by first opening the mainA PPLICATIONS folder. Then open the T ABLET folder and run theR EMOVETABLET utility. When the utility starts, click on the REMOVE ALLPREFERENCE FILES button. Log out, then log back in. When the tablet driverloads, it will create new preferences files with the factory defaults.Note: Do not manually remove the W ACOM TABLET.PREFPANE file from themain L IBRARY PREFERENCEPANES folder. This file is only to be removedwhen uninstalling the tablet software driver, and then only when using theR EMOVETABLET utility.
