Safety instructions5Safety instructionsWhat this chapter containsThis chapter states the general safety instructions that must befollowed when installing and operating the FCAN-01 CANopenAdapter module. The material in this chapter must be studied before attempting anywork on, or with, the unit.In addition to the safety instructions given below, read thecomplete safety instructions of the specific drive you are workingon.General safety instructionsWARNING! All electrical installation and maintenancework on the drive should be carried out by qualifiedelectricians. The drive and adjoining equipment must be properly earthed.Do not attempt any work on a powered drive. After switching offthe main power, always allow the intermediate circuit capacitors5 minutes to discharge before working on the frequency converter, the motor or the motor cable. It is good practice to check (witha voltage indicating instrument) that the drive is in fact dischargedbefore beginning work. The motor cable terminals of the drive are at a dangerously highvoltage when main power is applied, regardless of motoroperation. There can be dangerous voltages inside the drive from externalcontrol circuits even when the drive main power is shut off.Exercise appropriate care when working on the unit. Neglectingthese instructions can cause physical injury or death.
