98Anti-theft deviceThe PIN number does not have to be enteredimmediately. By pressing one of the source keys, and , you can select one of the availableaudio sources.No telephone-related functions, however, areavailable in such a case.This condition is indicated by on the display.To enter the PIN number, first, you need to pressthe source key .A new request for the PIN number appears.Note:If the unit or the ignition is shut off, the PINnumber will be requested again when the unit orignition is turned back on. To operate thetelephone, re-enter your PIN number as describedabove.The PIN number can also be stored as describedunder ”PIN Settings” on page 139. It is then nolonger necessary to enter the PIN every time youswitch on the unit.Removing the portable panelAs effective anti-theft device, the portable panel(A) may be removed from the unit.Press briefly (storage medium remains in theunit). The display folds forwards. The portablecomponent can then be pulled out.The volume is limited to a maximum level after thedisplay has been folded down. After 20 seconds,an audible signal indicates that the controlcomponent is folded down. The unit then switchesitself off.Note:After removal, please insert the portable panel inthe accompanying protective cover.Do not touch the metal contacts on the portablepanel or on the radio.Attaching the portable panelInsert the portable panel into the lower left catchand then engage it in the lower right catch. Thenfold up the portable panel and engage it in theupper catches.The portable panel can also be placed flat againstthe unit and pushed into place.To ensure correct function, be sure that theportable panel is completely seated in all fourcatches.If a new portable panel or one from another unit isused, the code number must be entered asdescribed above to activate the unit.DangerInjury hazardFor safety reasons, the portable panel may not beleft open while driving.AG
