The SmartSwitch 2000 Chassis View2-12Viewing Chassis InformationSelecting a Port Status ViewTo change the status view of your ports:1. Click on Port Status on the menu bar at the top of the Chassis View window;a menu will appear.2. Drag down (and to the right, if necessary) to select the status information youwant to display. The port text boxes will display the appropriate statusinformation.Port status view options are:StatusYou can view four port status categories, as follows:• Bridge — FWD, DIS, LRN, LIS, BLK, BRK, UNK• Bridge Mapping — the physical interface associated with a bridge port• Admin — ON or OFF• Operator — ON or OFFIf you have selected the Bridge status mode, a port is considered:• FWD (Forwarding) if the port is on-line and forwarding packets across theSmartSwitch 2000 from one network segment to another.• DIS (Disabled) if bridging at the port has been disabled by management; notraffic can be received or forwarded on this port, including configurationinformation for the bridged topology.• LRN (Learning) if the Forwarding database is being created, or the SpanningTree Algorithm is being executed because of a network topology change. Theport is monitoring network traffic, and learning network addresses.• LIS (Listening) if the port is not adding information to the filtering database. Itis monitoring Bridge Protocol Data Unit (BPDU) traffic while preparing tomove to the forwarding state.• BLK (Blocking) if the port is on-line, but filtering traffic from going across theSmartSwitch 2000 from one network segment to another. Bridge topologyinformation will be forwarded by the port.• UNK (Unknown) if the interface’s status cannot be determined.NOTESThe Bridge and Bridge Mapping status modes will not be supported for devices whichhave been configured for SecureFast switching.Firmware versions 2.01.05 and above support the ability to select SecureFast switching; ifyou have a earlier version of firmware, contact the Cabletron Systems Global Call Centerfor upgrade information. The toggle from traditional bridging to SecureFast switching isperformed via Local Management; see your Local Management documentation for details.
