Using Cruise Control on HillsHow well your cruise control will work on hillsdepends upon your speed, load and the steepnessof the hills. When going up steep hills, you may haveto step on the accelerator pedal to maintain your speed.When going downhill, you may have to brake or shiftto a lower gear to keep your speed down. Applyingthe brake or shifting into a lower gear will take youout of cruise control. If you need to apply the brake orshift to a lower gear due to the grade of the downhillslope, you may not want to attempt to use your cruisecontrol feature.Ending Cruise ControlTo end a cruise control session, step lightly on thebrake pedal, or press the cruise control on/off buttonon the steering wheel.Stepping on the brake or clutch pedal will end thecurrent cruise control session only. You must pressthe cruise control on/off button on the steering wheelto turn off the system completely.Erasing Speed MemoryWhen you turn off the cruise control or the ignition,your cruise control set speed memory is erased.HeadlampsThe exterior lamp control is located in the middleof the turn signal/multifunction lever. SeeTurnSignal/Multifunction Lever on page 3-8.O(Exterior Lamp Control): Turn the control withthis symbol on it to operate the exterior lamps.CTSThe exterior lamp control for the CTS has the followingfour positions:O (On/Off): Turn the control to this position to turn offall lamps except the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL).AUTO (Automatic): Turn the control to this position toput the headlamps in automatic mode.
