RDS MessagesALERT: Alert warns of local and national emergencies.When, an alert announcement comes on the currentradio station or a related network station, ALERTwill appear on the display. You will hear theannouncement, even if the volume is low or a CD isplaying. If a CD is playing, play will stop duringthe announcement. Alert announcements cannot beturned off. If the radio tunes to a related network stationfor the announcement, it will return to the originalstation when the announcement is finished.ALERT will not be affected by tests of the emergencybroadcast system. This feature is not supported byall RDS stations.MSG (Message): If the current RDS station has amessage, MSG will appear on the display. The messagemay display the artist, song title, call in phone numbers,etc. If the entire message does not appear on thedisplay, parts of the message will appear every threeseconds until the message is completed. Once thecompleted message has been displayed, MSGwill disappear from the display until another newmessage is received.To display the last message, perform the followingsteps:1. Press the TUNE/SEL knob to enter the main menu.2. Turn the TUNE/SEL knob until RECALL RDSMESSAGE appears on the display.3. Press the TUNE/SEL knob. The message willappear on the display.Once the message has been displayed, MSG willdisappear from the display until another new messageis received.TP (Traffic Program): TP will appear on the displaywhen the radio detects a signal from an RDS station thathas traffic announcement broadcast capability.TA (Traffic Announcement): If TA appears on thedisplay, the tuned radio station broadcasts trafficannouncements and when a traffic announcementcomes on the tuned station you will hear it.If the station does not broadcast traffic announcements,when TA is turned on it will seek to a station thatdoes. When a station that broadcasts trafficannouncements is found, the radio will stop seeking andTA will appear on the display. If no station is foundthat broadcasts traffic announcements, No Traffic willappear on the display.3-96
