(d) Lubricate the trunk key lock cylinder. Lubricate allbody door hinges. Lubricate all hinges and latches,including those for the hood, trunk, console door, andany folding seat hardware. More frequent lubrication maybe required when exposed to a corrosive environment.Applying silicone grease on weatherstrips with a cleancloth will make them last longer, seal better, and not stickor squeak.(e) If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, thefilter may require replacement more often.(f) Change automatic transmission fluid and filter if thevehicle is mainly driven under one or more of theseconditions:− In heavy city traffic where the outside temperatureregularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher.− In hilly or mountainous terrain.− Uses such as high performance operation.(g) Drain, flush, and refill cooling system. This servicecan be complex; you should have your dealer/retailerperform this service. See Engine Coolant on page 6-24for what to use. Inspect hoses. Clean radiator,condenser, pressure cap, and filler neck. Pressuretest the cooling system and pressure cap.(h) If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, inspectthe filter at each engine oil change.(j) Visually inspect belt for fraying, excessive cracks,or obvious damage. Replace belt if necessary.(k) Drain, flush, and refill intercooler system. Thisservice can be complex; you should have yourdealer/retailer perform this service. See Engine Coolanton page 6-24 for what to use. Inspect hoses. Cleanpressure cap and filler neck. Pressure test the systemand pressure cap.(l) Visually inspect brake lines and hoses for properhook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect discbrake pads for wear and rotors for surface condition.Inspect other brake parts, including calipers, parkingbrake, etc.(m) Visually inspect hoses and have them replaced ifthey are cracked, swollen, or deteriorated. Inspect allpipes, fittings, and clamps; replace with genuine parts asneeded. To help ensure proper operation, a pressure testof the cooling system and pressure cap and cleaning theoutside of the radiator and air conditioning condenser isrecommended at least once a year.(n) Visually inspect front and rear suspension andsteering system for damaged, loose, or missing parts orsigns of wear. Inspect power steering lines and hosesfor proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing,etc. XLR-V Only: Lubricate the outer ends of bothrear toe-links every other oil change.7-7
