ConnectionsE-12You can use the Digital Keyboard’s speakers to output soundfrom a CD player, another digital keyboard, or other externaldevice, or from a microphone.• Whenever connecting something to the DigitalKeyboard, first use the L-2 (MAIN VOLUME) knob to setthe volume to a low level. After connecting, you canadjust the volume to the level you want.• Whenever you connect any device to the DigitalKeyboard, be sure to read the user documentation thatcomes with the device.• Digital Keyboard built-in effects (reverb, chorus, DSP) arenot applied to input from the T-6 (AUDIO IN) jack. Input isoutput directly, and is affected by the Digital Keyboard’sbuild-in amplifier and L-2 (MAIN VOLUME) knob.• Digital Keyboard built-in effects (reverb, chorus, DSP) areapplied to input from the T-5 (INST IN) and T-8 (MIC IN)jacks. You also can use the Mixer to adjust how effects areapplied, the speaker stereo pan position, and otherparameters.For details, see “Applying Effects to a Sound” (page E-31)and “Using the Mixer” (page E-38).Use a commercially available connecting cord to connect theexternal device to the Digital Keyboard’s T-6 (AUDIO IN) jack.The connecting cord should have a stereo mini plug on oneend and a plug that is compatible with the external device youare connecting to on the other end. Adjust volume using theDigital Keyboard’s L-2 (MAIN VOLUME) knob.Use a commercially available connecting cord to connect theexternal device to the Digital Keyboard’s T-5 (INST IN) jack.The connecting cord should have a standard plug (monaural)on one end and a plug that is compatible with the externaldevice you are connecting to on the other end. Adjust volumeusing the Digital Keyboard’s L-2 (MAIN VOLUME) knob.You can connect a dynamic microphone (only) to the DigitalKeyboard for output thorough the Digital Keyboard’sspeakers.• You can adjust the volume level of microphone input withthe L-3 (MIC VOLUME) knob. Microphone volume controlis independent of overall keyboard volume.• Before connecting a microphone, make sure that theDigital Keyboard and microphone are turned off.• Before connecting a microphone, set both the L-2(MAIN VOLUME) and L-3 (MIC VOLUME) knobs to lowlevels.
