One byte of a datapacket is used for status information and controldata in order to ensure fault-free transmission.The diagnostics messages can also be embeddedin the process input data depending on thefieldbus used. In this case, the process output datacontains a byte for triggering the clearing of thereceive and transmit buffer. This thereforereduces the user data part of a data packet to 6bytes.
