English34Do not use water on grease fires.Never pick up a flaming pan. Turn thecontrols off. Smother a flaming panby covering the pan completely with awell fitting lid or baking tray. Use amultipurpose dry chemical or foam-type fire extinguisher, if available.Never leave the hob unattended athigh heat settings. Pans boiling overcan cause smoking and greasy spillsmay catch on fire.Never wear loose-fitting or hangingclothes while using the appliance. Becareful when reaching for itemsstored in cabinets over the hotplate.Flammable material could be ignitedif brought in contact with a hot surfaceunit and may cause severe burns.Take great care when heating fatsand oils, as they will ignite if they gettoo hot.Use a deep fat thermometer when-ever possible to prevent overheatingfat beyond the smoking point.Never leave a chip pan unattended.Always heat fat slowly, and watch asit heats. Deep fry pans should be onlyone third full of fat. Filling the pan toofull of fat can cause spill over whenfood is added. If you use a combina-tion of oils or fats in frying, stir themtogether before heating, or as the fatsmelt.Foods for frying should be as dry aspossible. Frost on frozen foods ormoisture on fresh foods can causehot fat to bubble up and over thesides of the pan. Carefully watch forspills or overheating of foods whenfrying at high or medium high tem-peratures. Never try to move a pan ofhot fat, especially a deep fat fryer.Wait until the fat is cool.When the grill is on, do not use thetop of the flue (the slot along the backof the cooker) for warming plates,dishes, drying tea towels or softeningbutter.When using an electrical appliancenear the hob, make sure that the cordof the appliance does not come intocontact with the hotplate.If you find a crack in the Warmer sur-face immediately disconnect the ap-pliance from the supply and arrangefor its repair.Take care that no water seeps intothe applianceOnly certain types of glass, glass-ce-ramic, earthenware or other glazedcontainers are suitable for hotplatecooking; others may break becauseof the sudden change in temperature.Do not allow anyone to climb, standor hang on any part of the cooker.Do not use aluminium foil to covershelves, linings or the oven roof.Make sure that your kitchen is wellventilated at all times.
