Hold a lightedmatch to the burner, then turn the knob to the LOWposition. Use extreme caution when lighting burnersthis way.Do not attempt to light the griddle during a power outage.The gas to these burners will automatically shut offduring a power outage.LowerFlame8SSHU)ODPHLower FlameTo Light a Surface BurnerPush the control knob in and turn it counterclockwise tothe LITE position.WARNING Burners should be operated onlywhen covered by cookware. Burner flames notcovered by cookware present a risk of fire orclothing ignition. Never let flames extend beyond thesides of the cookware. Failure to comply may resultin serious injury.After the burner ignites, turn the knob to adjust theflame size.To turn a burner off, turn the knob clockwise, as far asit will go, to the OFF position.Ŷ Do not operate a burner for an extended period of timewithout cookware on the grate. The finish on the gratemay chip without cookware to absorb the heat.Dual-flame Stacked BurnersAll surface burners on your range have two sets of flamesstacked one on top of the other; the dual-flame burnershave a lower (simmer) flame and a upper (main) flame.When a burner is turned on, the lower flame will alwayslight and stay on.Simmering:The stacked burner design provides a wide range ofheat settings with which to simmer. Depending on thetype and quantity of food, and pan size, the flame canbe adjusted to suit your specific need. The lowest settinguses only the lower flame and can maintain delicatefoods at a safe 140°F.Cooking:Settings from LO to X-HI will use both upper and lowerIODPHV8VHLO to HIIRUDOOSXUSRVHFRRNLQJ8VHHI orX-HI (highest setting) with larger diameter cookware.X-HI and HI are very high heat settings and are intendedto sear foods quickly and boil large quantities of water.
