103Detailed OperationInitial En Route Zoom Scale, Initial Ground ZoomScale, and Transition SpeedSystem Nav Setup Menu Items (Page 2)A zoom scale auto-transition point is supportedthat helps to reduce the pilot workload by automatingthe selection of the zoom scale based on the phase offlight. The two transitions are:• Ground-to-Air mode (Takeoff)• Air-to-Ground mode (Landing)When the aircraft transitions from Ground-to-Air,the zoom scale is automatically set to a user selected“en route” zoom scale. When the aircraft transitionsfrom Air-to-Ground, the zoom scale is automaticallyset to a user selected “Ground” zoom scale. The transi-tion point is based on a user selected Transition Speedand is based on GPS ground speed.The Auto-Transition feature allows for optimalclose-in viewing while on the ground and optimal longrange viewing while in flight, without the user havingto make manual zoom scale adjustments while in thetakeoff and landing phases of flight. The Zoom scale isshown in the lower left corner of the display.The En Route and Ground zoom scales and thetransition point are adjusted under the SYS Function.“Transition Speed” – 10-100 kts“Initial En Route Zoom Scale” – Auto, 0.25 – 250 nm“Initial Ground Zoom Scale” – 0.25 – 5 nmThe recommended settings for the initial zoomscales are Auto for the en route mode and 0.5 nm forthe ground mode.1. Press the Menu Item keys as needed to selectthe settings.Slave Zoom to GPS ZoomThis is only available when installed with a GNS480-series GPS navigator. When enabled and the GMX200 is in Auto Zoom mode, the GMX 200 will auto-matically set the zoom scale to that used on the GNS480-series navigator. This feature must be disabledwhen the GPS navigator is not a GNS 480.AutoLoad Electronic ChartsThis is only available when installed with anGNS 480-series GPS navigator. This feature must bedisabled when the GMX 200 is connected to a GPSnavigator other than an GNS 480-series navigator.
