68Detailed OperationGDL 69/69A - FIS1. While in the Status page, press MENU/ENTER.2. Press the Products key to toggle to the Diag-nostics display. The Diagnostics page informa-tion is displayed.3. Press the Start Diag key to activate GDL69/69A diagnostics.NOTE: After diagnostics have been run, powerto the GDL 69/69A must be recycled to return toproper operation, for GDL 69/69A software ver-sions prior to version 2.13.ActivationThe Activation page shows the radio identificationnumbers for one or both receivers. These numbersare needed to start a subscription. The Service Class isthe name of the data subscription level. The WeatherProducts section shows the products contained in theselected subscription level.XM FIS Data Activation1. Press the FN key and then the FIS function keywhen displayed.2. Press the fourth function smart key on the rightto select the Status (Status) sub-function.3. Press MENU/ENTER to display the Productsmenu item.4. Press the Products key to toggle to the Diag-nostics display. The Diagnostics page informationis displayed, including Radio IDs, Service Class,and Weather Products.5. Follow the XM Satellite Radio Activation proce-dure and press Accept at the appropriate time.Activating XM Radio ServicesBefore the GDL 69/69A can be used, the unitmust be activated by XM Satellite Radio and servicesare subscribed to XM Satellite Radio. Please note thatthe GDL 69 is a weather data link. The GDL 69A isa weather data link and audio receiver. The data linkservice and the audio entertainment services must beactivated separately.Gather InformationYour GDL 69 or GDL 69A is shipped with one ortwo radio hardware identifications, respectively. TheseIDs serve as identification codes for your XM-equippedGDL 69/69A and are needed in the activation process.The ID(s) is attached to this instruction sheet andprinted on a label on the back of the unit. The IDs canalso be retrieved through the GMX 200 in the Activa-tion page of the Status sub-function. Contact yourdealer or customer service if you are unable to locatethe radio hardware IDs.XM Satellite Radio ActivationWeather and/or audio data from your GDL 69/69Aare provided by XM Satellite Radio, a companyseparate and independent from Garmin Corporation.Have your radio hardware IDs ready before contactingXM Satellite Radio. During the process, you can selectservices for subscription. Keep in mind that the GDL69 has no audio capability, audio services will not beavailable with the unit.Follow the GDL 69/69A XM Satellite Radio Activa-tion Instructions (190-00355-04) enclosed with yourGDL 69/69A unit to activate the XM products.
