17Detailed OperationPanThe Pan keys are used tomove the display around soyou can see beyond the initialboundaries of the screen. ThePAN function key is one of the“smart” keys available at thebottom of the screen. Press-ing the rotary knob will alsoactivate the Pan function. Whenyou select the Pan function,four “arrow” keys appear on theright side of the screen next tothe Menu Item keys. Move themap in the desired direction by pressing the MenuItem key next to the arrow that shows which way youwant the map to move. Press the PAN key again to exitthe Pan mode. While panning, a green reference line isdrawn from the center of the viewed area back to yourcurrent position.InfoPress the INFO key to toggle viewing of informa-tion about the current “TO” waypoint. Press the INFOkey again to hide the information.Each press of the key will step through theavailable information for the current “TO” waypoint.The number of pages depends on the amount of infor-mation about the waypoint. Press the WX key to viewany available METARs for the selected waypoint. Notethat not all airports will have METARs available. TheWx key is available with the GDL 90 UAT and GDL69/69A FIS sensors.Runway diagrams of airports will be displayed inthe same orientation as the main map (i.e., North Up,Track Up, or DTK Up).Info page 1 Info page 2Info page 3 Info page 4Info WeatherInfo In Pan ModeThe INFO smart key supports operation in con-junction with the PAN feature.On any of the maps (Custom Map, IFR and VFR),entering the INFO mode while pan is active, will showinformation about the nearest airport to the center ofthe screen. This allows panning around the immediatearea and obtaining information about airports in thevicinity without changing the current “TO” waypoint.While in this mode, only the INFO smart key ishighlighted. The PAN key is highlighted when exitingthe Info mode. Only information about airports can beobtained with this feature.Panning ControlsCustom Map
